Don’t let pregnancy be a break in your career

Written by Derek Dong | 1 August 2016

Australia Post’s Lauren Jauncey shares how pregnancy doesn’t have to be a break in your career. The detrimental impact of pregnancy on your career is well documented. And it’s both managers and parents to be who contribute to the perception that having a baby stunts the career ambition of a woman.

But it doesn’t have to be. Just like many other important personal events that take place while you’re working, becoming a parent too can be another event in your career – it doesn’t need to spell the end of it like it does for some 30% of Australian women.

Rather, it’s the perfect time to reflect on your values and vision, and re-orient your career compass.

Mother of 3 and Head of Diversity & Inclusion for Australia Post, author of the Gender Action Plan, 200m State Title Winner and advocate of flexibility, shares her story as part of our I Don’t Know How She Does It series, including her learnings from Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In right here….
